How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign involves the use of a series of clear custom retainers, with each set made to uniquely fit the patient and to help them achieve their goals. Each retainer is worn between 20-22 hours per day, and removed when eating.
3D imaging aids in the creation of each set of retainers. Every set is adjusted as necessary based on progress. Best of all, our unique technology enables you to actually see what the end result will look like as your teeth shift into position.
Although results can be noticeable within weeks, typically between 20-50 sets of retainer trays are needed over a treatment plan lasting between 9-18 months.
What is the Process of Getting Invisalign Like?

Evaluation – at this stage your orthodontist will perform an evaluation of your teeth, mouth and gums, as well as your dental history to determine if Invisalign is a good fit.

3D imaging provides the blueprint to create a custom set of clear retainer trays.

Patients will wear the clear retainers as prescribed for a period of a few weeks, after which a follow up will be scheduled to assess comfort and progress.

Subsequent appointments will take place every few weeks for new fittings and a new set of aligner trays

How Long Does Invisalign Take to See Results?
While traditional metal braces can take upwards of two years to see the final results, Invisalign is capable of producing similar or even better results in nearly half the time (in some cases).
These clear aligners begin to work immediately, with improvements that can be seen within weeks. However, the end results and final goal typically takes between 9-18 months to achieve. Every patient in Mission Viejo is unique, and results may vary (shorter or longer) depending on their situation.
